Famous chef & tanguera Kiya Jamison will be a huge part of this festival. She will operate a cafe in the Ratskeller room (basement level) throughout much of the festival, and serve an exquisite buffet dinner on Friday night.
The idea is not only to meet your caloric and caffeine needs, but also to provide a space where you can meet and mingle with other tangueros, chat up the teachers and DJs, and enjoy a convivial social environment to enhance your dancing experience. Tango IS a social dance after all, and the act of eating and drinking with other tangueros is sometimes as important as a transcendent tanda. (We've all had the feeling of trying for that transcendent tanda when we were just too tired or hungry to really feel it.)
Catered Buffet Dinner - Friday, June 2, 6:30-9:30 pm
The buffet dinner on Friday evening will provide a perfect opportunity to meet other festival-goers, and mingle with our teachers and DJs. Please click here to check out the exquisite menu that Chef Kiya has put together for us (with a complete vegan option, as well).
This dinner is NOT AVAILABLE by walk in. You must purchase it during the pre-registration period (ending May 15). The dinner is included in most festival passes. If you register for a pass that includes dinner, but you can't be here at that time, you can select an alternative food option (a dozen empanadas or medialunas for pick-up on Saturday afternoon).
Chef Kiya will also operate a cafe out of the Ratskeller throughout much of the festival. The cafe will serve coffee and medialunas, as well as light bites including sandwiches and milanesas (perhaps not so light!). The idea is to give you an on-site space where you can refresh and recharge between workshops, and before the milonga.
